The Chicago Bears have announced that they have traded a 2010 second round pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for defensive end Gaines Adams. Adams was the fourth overall pick in the 2007 draft.
The bears top pick in the 2010 draft is now a third round pick, after trading away a first round pick and a second round pick. The first round pick was used to acquire former Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler.
Adams will not play Sunday night why the Bears are playing the Falcons, but he should be added to the Bears rotation at defensive end in the next few weeks. To make room for Gaines, the Bears released tight end Michael Gaines.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the addition of Adams will likely mean that the Bears will not re-sign Adewale Ogunleye, who's contract expires at the end of the season. The Buccaneers took an 11 million dollar salary cap hit by trading Adams.
