Jason La Canfora of NFL.com is reporting that the Buccaneers might name Josh Freeman their starting quarterback if the Buccaneers lose against the Panthers and the Patriots in the next two weeks.
The Buccaneers would have the bye week to prepare the rookie quarterback to replace current starter Josh Johnson, who was already promoted in favor of Byron Leftwich, who was the Buccaneers opening day starting quarterback.
Freeman was drafted in the first round of this seasons draft, and many fans and media around the league were surprised when the Buccaneers named Josh Johnson their second string quarterback over Freeman.
Johnson has started in two games and has completed 52 percent of his passes. Johnson has only thrown three touchdowns, put has piled up four interceptions. Leftwich started three games, completed 54 % of his passes, and had a 4-3 TD ratio.
