Greg A. Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting that the Green Bay Packers have worked out free agent right offensive tackle Mark Tauscher, and are now close to signing him to a contract.
According to Bedard if/when Tauscher gets signed, he will likely serve as a back up to current starter Allen Barbre. The Packers would likely place cornerback Will Blackmon on injured reserve to make a roster spot for Tauscher.
Coach Mike McCarthy told reporters that Jordy Nelson will now be used as the Packers primary kick returner. Tauscher will be a reserve when he first signs, but at some point he will probably overtake Allen Barbre.
