The Orange and Brown report is reporting that the Cleveland Browns have released linebacker Josh Stamer. Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post is reporting that the Browns also had a tryout with linebacker Rocky Boiman.
The Browns were not able to sign Boiman, because the Pittsburgh Steelers beat them to him. The Browns have not yet signed a player to replace Stamer on the 53-man roster, and it seems to me that the Browns were all ready to sign Boiman, but the Steelers stole him.
Stamer is more know for his special teams abilities than his play at linebacker, where he mainly adds depth. I would expect the Browns would sign a player in the next couple of days.
