The Texans, 5-5, face an Indianapolis team on Sunday that is not afraid to air the ball out. The Texans got bad news on Thursday, when the team announced they have placed saftey Eugene Wilson on season ending injured reserve.
John Busing is expected to replace Wilson in the starting line up. Busing, a four year veteran, has played mostly with the Cincinnati Bengals. Busing has had the best season of his career in 2009, recording 21 tackles.
Busing has also intercepted a pass in 2009. In 2008, Busing played in eight games with the Bengals, but he only recorded 7 tackles. In 2007 he played in 12 games and recorded 14 tackles. As a rookie in 2006 he played in seven games and recorded four tackles.
When Busing was in Cincinnati, he was rarely used on defense, and he was just a special teams contributor. Busing will get his biggest test of his career, while he will see a lot of deep coverage defending Pierre Garcon and Reggie Wayne.
To take up Wilson's roster spot, the Texans signed safety Brian Russell, who was released by the Jaguars yesterday. Russell has also spent time with the Cleveland Browns and the Seattle Seahawks.
Bernard Pollard is the Texans starting strong safety. Dominique Barber and Nick Ferguson will also see time in for Busing and Pollard. Russell will add deep depth, and help on special teams.
