Bengals Release Shaun Smith

The Bengals surprise me. Today the Bengals announced that they have released defensive tackle Shaun Smith, three days after he signed with the team. The Bengals signed cornerback Rico Murray to replace Smith on the 53-man roster.

Murray was on the Bengal's practice squad. According to ProFootballTalk.com, the Bengals signed Smith after he apologized to the team for his previous actions in 2007. Pat Sims and Tank Johnson will start at defensive tackle for the Bengals.
Murry will add depth in the secondary where Chris Crocker and Kyries Hebert may not play on Sunday. Joe Reedy wrote on his twitter page that he thinks the Bengals will sign Smith next week, after the secondary gets some time to heal.
