Cowboys Stop Prefection, Defeat Saints

The Colts now stand alone as the only team fighting for perfection next week. The Dallas Cowboys defeated the New Orleans Saints 24 to 17, in a game that went down to the wire. The Saints scored 14 straight points to end a losing effort.

Tony Romo lead the Cowboys in their ninth win of 2009, which puts Dallas in good position for a spot in the playoffs. Romo completed 22 of 34 passes for over 300 yards, and did not throw an interception.

The Dallas victory hurt more in Atlanta than it did in New Orleans, as the Falcons were eliminated from the playoffs. The Cowboys win the tiebreaker over the Falcons due to their early season victory against Atlanta.

With Saints star tight end Jeremy Shockey out, David Thomas, who played with the Patriots during their 16-0 season, picked up the slack. The Cowboys did a good job of keeping Drew Brees on his toes, and managed to contain Pierre Thomas.
