
The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the Detroit Lions have placed quarterback Matthew Stafford on injured reserve. Stafford will miss the last two games of the season and have minor knee surgery.
According the Lions head coach Jim Schwartz, the surgery will be to take out several irritants and debris. Stafford has not played the past two weeks, and Daunte Culpepper has started in his place.
Stafford started ten games this season after he was drafted with the first pick in the 2009 draft. Stafford threw 13 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. Stafford also threw for 2,267 passing yards.
