The Colts decided that they were going to look beyond their chances to win all 16 games of the season, and rest their starters. With a 15-14 lead in the 3rd quarter, the Colts replaced Peyton Manning with rookie quarterback Curtis Painter.
With Manning out of the game, the Jets went on a 15-0 run that started with a Curtis Painter fumble that was returned for a touchdown. The first score of the game came on a long run by Joseph Addai, who left the game after the first quarter.
Brad Smith scored first in the third quarter when he returned a kickoff 106 yards for a touchdown. Shonn Greene tore the Colts reserve defense into pieces in the second half. Austin Collie lead the Colts in receiving yards and Joseph Addai lead the Colts in rushing yards.
