Michael Vick Wins Humanitarian Award

The Philadelphia Eagles have awarded quarterback Michael Vick with the Ed Block courage award which recognizes a player who improves the lives of neglected children. According to the eagles, the group raises awareness for neglected children.

Vick, obviously, is a controversial choice for this award after he was released from jail for federal dog-fighting charges less than a year ago. According to PFT, the award also recognizes that the recipient displays good sportsmanship.

Eagles players voted on who should be awarded the honor, and to most everyone's surprise, Vick was given the honor. Vick in fact was voted unanimously. PETA, of course, issued a statement. "The Philadelphia Eagles fumbled when they gave Michael Vick the Ed Block Courage Award, which was named after a man who advocated in behalf of abused children."
