The Gaston Gazette is reporting that the Carolina Panthers have placed starting offensive tackle Jeff Otah on injured reserve, and have signed star UFL offensive tackle Rob Petitti. Otoh suffered a knee injury on Sunday.
Geoff Schwartz will start at right tackle while Otah misses the last three games of the season. Left tackle Jordan Gross has also been placed on IR, and guard Travalle Wharton has been starting at left tackle for Gross.
Petitti started a full season at right tackle for the Dallas Cowboys in 2005, and was the best lineman in the UFL in 2009. Petitti spent 2009 with the Florida Tuskers, who were coached by Dennis Green.
