The Baltimore Sun is reporting that Baltimore Ravens backup quarterback Troy Smith will look for a chance to be a starting quarterback in free agency after the end of the season. Smith is scheduled to be a restricted free agent.
Smith is not interested in switching positions like a lot of speedy college quarterbacks have since entering the NFL. Smith was once considered the Ravens leading candidate to start at quarterback in 2008.
Ravens offensive coordinator called Smith a quarterback first and an athlete second. The Ravens like to use a formation where starting quarterback Joe Flacco lines up at wide receiver, and where Troy Smith takes a shotgun snap.
