Redskins Lose Chris Cooley For Season

Matt Terl is reporting on twitter that the Washington Redskins have placed tight end Chris cooley on injured reserve. The Redskins also announced that they placed defensive end Jeremy Jarmon on injured reserve.

Rob Jackson was signed from the practice squad to replace Jarmon's roster spot. The Redskins also signed linebacker Alvin Bowen. Starting running back Clinton Portis has also been ruled out for week 13.

Fred Davis will start at tight end for Cooley. Davis, who is in his second NFL season looks like a budding pass catcher.

Shaun Rodgers Placed On IR

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer is reporting that the Cleveland Browns have placed starting nose tackle Shaun Rodgers on injured reserve. Rodgers has some type of lower leg injury.

According to Eric Mangini, the injury also involves Rodgers ankle. Rodgers will have surgery on his ankle/leg? Rumor is that he broke his ankle. It's amazing that they are not already broken because the man is so fat.

The Browns will have a lot of trouble replacing Rodgers. 3-4 NT's are hard to find, and there are not many out there.

Buccaneers Lose Three For Season

The Pewter Report is reporting that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have placed offensive guard Aaron sears on the Reserve/Non-Football List. The Buccaneers also placed Torrie Cox and Dirk Johnson on injured reserve.

To take a roster spot from the three losses, the Buccaneers signed cornerback Brandon Anderson from their practice squad. Sears has been out of football shape and he does not know the Buccaneers playbook.

Johnson tore his hamstring in a non contact punt. The Buccaneers will need to add a new punter who can also hold kicks. Josh Johnson held kicks for Johnson and Connor Barth punted for Johnson on Sunday.

Jake Delhomme To The Bench

Charles Chandler of the Charlotte Observer is reporting that Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox is considering benching quarterback Jake Delhomme. Delhomme would be replaced by Matt Moore.

Jake Delhomme had a 12.7 passer rating in a loss against the lifeless New York Jets. Delhomme has thrown 18 interceptions in 2009, which breaks his career high totals, and the Panthers still have over a quarter of a season to play.

Some reporters asked John Fox if he has a lack of confidence with Matt Moore. Fox said that is not the case. Delhomme is having the worst season of his career, and his poor play is pulling the Panthers down.

Matt Ryan Will Not Play In Week 13

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports is reporting that the Atlanta Falcons will be without quarterback Matt Ryan in week 13. Ryan has been diagnosed with turf toe, an injury he got in Sunday's game. Ryan played only one series against the Buccaneers.

Chris Redman will replace Ryan as the Falcons starting quarterback. Redman's last start came late in the 2007 season. Redman is set to be a free agent at the end of the season, and this is perfect timing for the veteran.

The Falcons could also be without Michael Turner, who got injured again after sitting out week 12. If Turner cannot go for the Falcons, Jason Snelling and Jerious Norwood will see most of the carries.

Notre Dame Fires The Fat Man

After recent reports that former head coach of Notre Dame Charlie Weis had cleaned out his office, the Fighting Irish announced today that Weis has been fired as the head football coach of Notre Dame.

Weis can now look at coaching jobs in the NFL as an offensive coordinator, or coaching jobs in the NCAA as the head coach. The Fighting Irish will now search for a new head coach. Weis has been rumored to be destined with the Patriots, Panthers, Chiefs, Colts, and Browns.

According to a press release, Weis did not meet expectations while at Notre Dame. Weis worked as the Patriots offensive coordinator before he was the head coach at Notre Dame. In New England he was credited with the creation of Tom Brady.

Nasty Interception By Darrelle Revis

In other news Delhomme means Interception in Arabic

Shaun Rodgers Out For The Year

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer is reporting that the Cleveland Browns starting nose tackle Shaun Rodgers will miss the rest of the 2009 season.
NFSW (Fat Man Crying)
Rodgers left today's game against the Bengals with a leg injury.

Bills To Bench Marshawn Lynch?

The Buffalo News is reporting that there is a sence around Buffalo that the Buffalo Bills could demote starting running back Marshawn Lynch in favor of Fred Jackson. Jackson ran for two touchdowns in a win over the Dolphins.

Lynch has started five games at running back in 2009. Three came at the start of the season, when Lynch was serving a suspension. Lynch started one game at wide receiver, and he was a reserve today.

Vince Young Finds His Mojo

I'm going to put this out there. The Titans are one of the best teams in the NFL. They have won 5 straight, and they appear ready for a wildcard bid. The Titans are the first team in NFL history to win five games after losing their their first six.

The biggest change in the last five games has been the Titans change at quarterback. Other changes are the Titans improved play on defense.

He is a clip of Tennesee's most recent thrilling victory.

Colts Could Release Adam Vinatieri

Adam Vinatieri is close to returning to the field, but according to Justin Cohn of The Journal Gazette, the Colts could opt to keep replacement Matt Stover over Vinatieri. Vinatieri has not played in the Colts last five games.

The Colts can ill afford poor play at kicker, because most of their games come down to the wire. The Colts have won six straight games, where Manning has lead the Colts in fourth quarter comebacks.

“No matter who is out there, whether it’s myself or Matt, the team will be in pretty good hands, If he continues to do well, you never know, hey, why not make it a tough decision?” Vinatieri told the Journal Gazette.

Weis Could Coach Colts In 2010?

Peter King of NBC is reporting that now former Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis could be the Colts offensive coordinator in 2010. King thinks that Weis could be a candidate to replace Tom Moore when he retires for good.

Weis has also been rumored to be a candidate with New England and Cleveland. Before Weis was the head coach at Notre Dame, he was the offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots. King mentions the Chiefs, Panthers, and Patriots as other destinations.

Weis helped with the creation of Tom Brady and Brady Quinn, both of which are starting NFL quarterbacks.

Colts Have Won 20 straight, One Win Away To Tie Record

That was amazing.

The Colts, down by 17 in the first quarter, once again complete a comeback in the fourth quarter. The Colts are now one win away from matching the Patriots record for consecutive regular season wins. Two games will break their record, so go ahead and do some football betting

Clint Session returned a Matt Schaub interception for a touchdown with the Colts up by a point in the fourth quarter. The next drive Robert Mathis stole the ball as Schaub went back for the pass. Raheem Brock recovered the fumble.

Chad Simpson ran for his second touchdown of the year on the drive set up by the fumble recovery.

Larry Johnson Must Have Schmealt Money

........ because he is running for a new contract.

It looks like the Bengals have a touch for troubled running backs. Last year the Bengals grabbed Cedric Benson after he was scraped by the Bears. About a year later, the Bengals sign up Larry Johnson, who was released by the Chiefs.

Johnson ran for 107 yards on 22 carries, as he lead the Bengals in a thrilling victory over the Browns.

Metropoloulos Looking To Buy The Raiders?

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports is reporting that the Oakland Raiders are interested in selling part of the team to raise money. The Raiders are willing to sell 10% of their franchise, which is not enough according to every single Raider fan in the world.

This comes 11 months after reports from ESPN that said the Raiders were working on selling the team to a billionaire, who planned on moving the team back to Los Angeles. At that time the Raiders were selling their franchise to the lead banker of Metropoloulos.

Read this.

"Metropoloulos' lead broker is trying to negotiate a purchase option on the Raiders within three to five years upon closing the deal, sources told Mortensen.

Metropoulos had been identified previously by the Philadelphia Daily News last offseason as an aggressive buyer with a desire to relocate a franchise to Los Angeles. He has publicly denied his reported attempts, but sources confirm their veracity. "

From ESPN: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3809431

It appears at least to me that Metropoloulos's banker is trying to buy the Raiders again. The similarities are too much alike.

According to my very basic math and educated guesses, Davis currently owns about 80% of the Raiders.

UFL Coach Getting NFL Head Coach Looks

FanHouse.com is reporting that Florida Tuskers head coach Jim Haslett has been contacted by an NFL team about becoming their head coach. Haslett admitted in an interview that an unnamed team contacted him.

Haslett has been linked to the Buffalo Bills, where Perry Fewell is the interim head coach. ProFootballTalk.com suggests that Haslett could have been contacted by the Buccaneers to replace Jim Bates as the defensive coordinator.

Haslett lost in the UFL Championship after a game-winning field goal by Graham Gano. Haslett told reporters after the loss that "A lot of guys have been contacted; myself, a bunch of coaches have been contacted." Haslett also mentioned that he thinks that DeDe Dorsey will get some NFL calls.

Colts Need To Sign A Pass Rusher

The Colts did not play with Dwight Freeney today, and you could really tell the Colts were missing his pass rush. Robert Mathis is not able to provide the pressure alone, without the help of another speed rusher.

When Freeney was injured in 2007, the Colts signed Simeon Rice, who played in the UFL this season. Raheem Brock is starting at right end for Freeney. Brock is serviceable, but he is not a huge pass-rusher.

No rusher on the waiver wires or on the free agent market can be a pass-rusher anywhere near Freeney, but there are plenty of guys out there who much better pass rushers than what the Colts have.

Here are some of the options

  • Marcus Howard: Was with the Colts in 2008 as a rookie, and played with the Colts this offseason. Is faster than both Freeney and Mathis, but he lacks moves, and uses his pure speed to get to the quarterback, which does not work much. Would work best as an outside linebacker.
  • Simeon Rice: This name always comes to my head. i really cannot see Rice signing with an NFL team, but after playing a whole UFL season, I think you have to put his name up here.
  • Travis LaBoy: A solid pass rusher when healthy. WHEN HEALTHY.
  • Roosevelt Colvin: Experimented playing defensive end with the Houston Texans in 2008, it did not work out. Most value comes in the locker room, and with a 3-4 defense.
  • Gary Stills: Played linebacker in the UFL, but he can be used at defensive end.
  • Jerome McDougle: Former second round pick, has ability if he was focused.

But the Colts might also do nothing at all.....

Devin Hester Gets Pantsed On Live TV

This can pretty much sum up the Bears season.

Devin Hester gets pantsed last Monday against the Eagles. NBC swiftly gives veiwers a front and back replay.

Michael Turner Will Play In Week 12

Last week the Falcons had to start Jason Snelling at running back, this week........ Michael Turner is back. It's not yet time to waive Snelling from your fantasy football teams yet though. Snelling will still see some carries.

Snelling did a pretty solid job when Turner was out, the hybrid fullback-running back produced 76 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. Jerious Norwood also returns after missing five games due to a hip injury.

Steven Jackson Will Play In Week 12

The St. Louis Rams will be with stud running back Steven Jackson as they take on the Seattle Seahawks today. Jackson did not play in practice all week because he was resting his sore back.

Jackson has rushed for 100 yards in four straight games, and will try to go for five against Seattle's defense.

Kenneth Darby and Samkon Gado will also factor for St. Louis. The Rams will be without starting fullback Mike Karney, who is dealing with a neck injury.

NFL Contacting The Fat Man

Obesity has been in the NFL for years. John Madden, Warren Sapp, Jerome Bettis, and Jared Lorenzeon are all out of the NFL because of their obesity*. The NFL has made great strides in improving the look of the NFL, but is it getting worse.

Now, according to Adam Scheftler of ESPN, NFL teams are already contacting Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis. According to Scheftler, the very overweight weis will be an offensive coordinator in the NFL.

ProFootballTalk.com seems to think the Patriots will be an option, but I just can't see Weis going back to New England. I could see a Brady Quinn-Weis reunion, that could create a lot of life in the Cleveland offense.

*I'm kidding gez

Chad Ocho Cinco Thinks The Browns Are Weaksauce

Someone asked Bengals wide receiver this week if he was as excited about playing the Ravens as he excited about playing the Browns. His anwser: "No, sorry to say. Uh-uh. Not at all."

When asked about the Cleveland defensive backs stand out to him.

"It's never one individual. I just lump them all in one big group and beat them all like a balloon,"

Always a funny one, Chad Ocho Cinco

Freeney Will Not Play Against The Texans

Adam Scheftler of ESPN is reporting that Colts starting defensive right end Dwight Freeney will not play on Sunday as the Colts take out the Houston Texans. Freeney did not fly with the team to Houston.

Raheem Brock will replace Freeney in the starting line up. Brock's speed compared to Freeney's speed is like comparing Jerry Jones' speed to Alexander Wright's speed. Brook can play the run better than Freeney though.

Cornerback Kelvin Hayden (knee), linebacker Ramon Humber (calf), tackle Charlie Johnson (foot), tight end Gijon Robinson (concussion), and quarterback Jim Sorgi (right shoulder) are all listed as questionable.

Texans To Start Brown Against Colts

According to the Houston Chronicle, the Houston Texans will start a different player at running back. No, it's not Steve Slaton. Definitely not Moats. It's Mario Williams. Nah, just kidding, but that could work.

But anyways, the Texans will start Chris Brown on Sunday against the Colts. Brown had the most carries in Monday Night's loss to the winning-streak Titans.

Brown has 54 carries for 178 yards with one touchdown. He has also caught eight passes for 38 yards. Brown used to be an NFL starter when he played with the Titans but injuries kept coming after him. He had a couple of 1,000-yard performances.

Brown will be facing a team that he has been playing for his whole career (no gimme, he plays in the AFC South). Hopefully, he can help the Texans give Indy their first loss maybe.

Poll: What Is The Best Team In The NFL

You might have noticed the new poll on the left sidebar. Any interest in voting? Just a bit? Come on represent your team (or your opinion), and check back in a week to see our results. We will post them on twitter, our newsletter (In that box on the right) , our RSS feed (To the right), our you could follow Reservation For Six via blogger (Bottom right).

And here we go

Making The Case....

In no particular order

  • New England Patriots
  • Indianapolis Colts
  • Minnesotta Vikings
  • New Orleans Saints

What I Think....

On any given Sunday any team can be prone to a loss. Just look at the Cincinnati Bengals. Week eleven, heavy favorites over the Oakland Raiders, but lost in a fourth quarter letdown. That same week the puny Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime.

I can narrow this down pretty fast. The New Orleans Saints are not the best team in the NFL, and neither are the Colts. But it is hard for me to give it to the Patriots after they lost to the Colts. Right now the Minnesotta Vikings are the best team in the NFL.

What Do You Think?

Am I spot on? Am I real off? Is there another team that should be considered? Make sure to comment below. The results will be up next thursday, so be sure to check back.

Week 12: Cowboys-Raiders Inactives

Third quarterback Stephen McGee, safety Ken Hamlin, cornerback Cletis Gordon, linebackers Curtis Johnson and Jason Williams and offensive linemen Montrae Holland, Duke Preston and Marc Colombo are inactive for the Cowboys.

Third quarterback Charlie Frye, wide receiver Todd Watkins, linebackers David Nixon and Slade Norris, tackles Khalif Barnes and Erik Pears and wide receivers Javon Walker and Nick Miller are inactive for the Raiders.

Steelers Work Out Todd Bouman and Patrick Ramsey

Fox Sports Jay Glazer is reporting via twitter that the Pittsburgh Steelers have worked out quarterbacks Patrick Ramsey and Todd Bouman. The Steelers have lost back up Charlie Batch for the season.

Ben Roethlisberger was also banged up a bit last week when the Steelers lost to the Chiefs in a stunning overtime letdown. National Football Post reported a couple days ago that the Steelers worked out Jeff Garcia and Cleo Lemon.

Bouman, 37, has little to no gas left in the tank, and he last played with the Baltimore Ravens this offseason. Patrick Ramsey, 30, played with the Tennessee Titans earlier this season, but was released early on in the season.

Cardinals Work Out Mike Nugent, UFL Kicker

Adam Scheftler is reporting vis twitter that the Arizona Cardinals have worked out kickers Matt Bryant and Mike Nugent. Cardinals kicker Neil Rackers is nursing a tweaked groin, and his status for Sunday is unknown.

Both Nugent and Bryant were with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the preseason. Bryant was released, and then he signed with a UFL team. The Cardinals apparently expect Rackers to play.

Stover has completed 82.1 percent of his kicks in the NFL, and Nugent has completed 78.6 percent of his kicks. Bryant hit a 62 yard field goal in the 2006 regular season, which is one of the longest in the history of the NFL.

Week 12: Lions-Packers Inactives

Receiver Biren Ealy, cornerback Josh Bell, running back Ahman Green, safety Matt Giordano, offensive tackle Breno Giacomini, offensive tackle Allen Barbre, outside linebacker Aaron Kampman, and Defensive end Jarius Wynn are inactive for the Packers.

Quarterback Drew Stanton, receiver Derrick Williams, safety Kalvin Pearson, fullback Terrelle Smith, linebacker Ernie Sims, center Melvin Fowler, offensive lineman Ephraim Salaam and defensive end Dewayne White are inactive for the Lions.

Source: Brackney Wants To Be Bills Coach

Stories like "Source: Martz Wants To Be Bills Coach" really tickle me. Of course Mike Martz wants to be the Bills head coach, every lame unemployed coach in the world wants to. So why can't there be an article like "Source: Brackney Wants To Be Bills Coach".

According to tim Graham of ESPN.com, former St. Louis Rams head coach Mike Martz is interested in being the Bills head coach in 2010. According to ESPN, the Bills have not reached out to Martz.

The Bills have already talked to Mike Shanahan, Jon Gruden, Bill Cowher and Mike Holmgren. Shanahan spent seven hours talking to the Bills yesterday, while Gruden, Holmgren, and Cowher have not shown interest.

The Bills have also not yet contacted Bryan Brackney, but I am sure that he is a very hot candidate for many NFL teams. Brackney has no previous coaching experience, but he has a pretty nice blog.

Dolphins Sign Lineman

Tom Pelissero of the Green Bay Press-Gazette is reporting that Miami Dolphins have signed former Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Andrew Hartline. Hartline was on the Dolphins practice squad.

The Dolphins signed guard Mark Lewis to take Hartline's spot on the practice squad. Lewis spent time with the Dolphins this offseason, but he was unable to make the Dolphins' 53-man roster.

Hartline worked as the Dolphins back up center in practice today. The Dolphins are looking for help at center due to an injury to starting center Jake Grove. Grove's status for Sunday is uncertain with a sprained ankle.

Packers Lose Al Harris For Rest Of 2009

The Green Bay Packers will be without their starting right cornerback for the rest of the 2009 season. The Packers announced on Wednesday that they have placed Al Harris on season-ending injured reserve.

Harris tore his ACL in a win against the 49ers on Sunday. To fill Harris' roster spot, the Packers signed cornerback Trevor Ford. Tramon Williams, who serves as the Packers nickel cornerback, will replace Harris in the starting line up.

Jarrett Bush, Josh Bell, and Brandon Underwood provide the Packers with their primary depth at cornerback. Ford will likely play only on special teams, with plenty of bodies ahead of him on the depth chart.

Chiefs Lose Cornerback For Season

The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that cornerback Maurice Leggett has been placed on injured reserve. Leggett has also seen time lining up at free safety. Leggett has played in all ten games in 2009, and he recorded 17 tackles.

Leggett has started four out of 22 games in which he has played in. With Leggett out, DeJuan Morgan will see more snaps on defense and on special teams. The Chiefs have not yet added a player to replace Leggett on the active roster.

Leggett returned an interception 27 yards for a touchdown in 2008. Leggett was dealt a shoulder injury in last weeks win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Travis Daniels will likely play more at cornerback.

Browns Add Matt Roth

Drew Rosenhaus posted on his twitter page that the Cleveland Browns have claimed outside linebacker Matt Roth off of waivers from the Miami Dolphins. Roth was released by the Dolphins yesterday.

The Browns have had to move former starting outside linebacker David Bowens to inside linebacker because of injuries to Eric Barton and D`Qwell Jackson. Roth will add depth behind Jason Trusnik and Kamerion Wimbley.

The Browns waived linebacker Josh Stamer yesterday, so they will not need to get rid of any other players. The National Football Post is reporting that San Francisco, Jacksonville, Minnesota and Indianapolis also put a claim in for Roth.

Texans Lose Wilson For Season

The Texans, 5-5, face an Indianapolis team on Sunday that is not afraid to air the ball out. The Texans got bad news on Thursday, when the team announced they have placed saftey Eugene Wilson on season ending injured reserve.

John Busing is expected to replace Wilson in the starting line up. Busing, a four year veteran, has played mostly with the Cincinnati Bengals. Busing has had the best season of his career in 2009, recording 21 tackles.

Busing has also intercepted a pass in 2009. In 2008, Busing played in eight games with the Bengals, but he only recorded 7 tackles. In 2007 he played in 12 games and recorded 14 tackles. As a rookie in 2006 he played in seven games and recorded four tackles.

When Busing was in Cincinnati, he was rarely used on defense, and he was just a special teams contributor. Busing will get his biggest test of his career, while he will see a lot of deep coverage defending Pierre Garcon and Reggie Wayne.

To take up Wilson's roster spot, the Texans signed safety Brian Russell, who was released by the Jaguars yesterday. Russell has also spent time with the Cleveland Browns and the Seattle Seahawks.

Bernard Pollard is the Texans starting strong safety. Dominique Barber and Nick Ferguson will also see time in for Busing and Pollard. Russell will add deep depth, and help on special teams.

Jaguars Sign Michael Coe

Adam Scheftler of ESPN.com is reporting on his twitter page that the Jacksonville Jaguars have signed cornerback Michael Coe off the New York Giants practice squad. The Jaguars released linebacker Adam Seward yesterday.

The Jaguars also added running back Allen Patrick to their practice squad. The thing I remember about Coe from his time with the Colts is the punt he blocked against the Ravens that caused a safety.

Patrick has spent time with the Ravens, Giants, and Browns, and is nothing more than a third or fourth running back. Coe spent all of the 2008 season on the Colts injured reserve list. Coe will see work on special teams.

Panthers Lose Johnson For Year, Sign Senn

The Carolina Panthers have placed linebacker Landon Johnson on season ending injured reserve, Charles Chandler of the Charlotte Observer is reporting. The Panthers also signed linebacker Jordan Senn.

Senn played in one game with the Colts in 2009, after he was a special teams staple with the Colts in 2008. Johnson suffered a right knee injury last week against Miami. Johnson was already replacing Thomas Davis, who is on IR.

James Anderson will likely start for in Johnson's place. Kelvin Smith, Dan Connor, and Jordan Senn are the Panthers only reserve linebackers. All of them played inside linebacker before they came to Carolina.

Redskins Sign Quarterback

The Washington Redskins have signed quarterback Richard Bartel from the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad. Bartel will serve as the Redskins third quarterback, which would have been Colt Brennan.

Bartel is sitting behind Todd Collins, and Jason Campbell, so it is unlikely that he will see some game action this season. The move is curious because both Redskins quarterbacks are all listed as healthy.

The Redskins also released quarterback Andre` Woodson from their practice squad, and signed fullback Jonathan Evans to their practice squad. Evan was on the Redskins roster during the preseason, but he failed to make their 53-man roster.

Jets Bench Kerry Rhodes

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports is reporting on his twitter page that the New York Jets have benched saftey Kerry Rhodes in favor of Eric Smith. Rhodes has not recorded a sack, interception, or forced fumble in 2009.

Rhodes signed a five year $33 million dollar contract in 2008, and he has not proven his price in 2009. Rhodes was one of the reasons that Wes Welker was able to catch a career high 15 passes on Sunday.

Smith, who was beaten out by Abram Elan in 2008 for the starting safety spot opposite Rhodes, will start in week 12. According to the New York Star-Ledger, Rhodes is the first Jet to be benched by head coach Rex Ryan.

Vince Young High Fives Ref

Well this could just explain why the Titans are playing well right now, or not. Check this out.

That's just crazy. If A referee actually put his hand out to high five Vince Young he should never be officiating any sort of spot again.

The NFL released a statement on the exchange....

“It was not Jerome Boger’s intent to exchange a high-five with the player. It began with the referee making the proper administrative signal and resulted in the appearance of an inappropriate action."

Colts Release Mike Hart, Sign Defensive End

Adam Scheftler of ESPN.com is reporting via twitter that the Indianapolis Colts have released running back Mike Hart and signed defensive end Josh Thomas. Hart did not see any carries in 2009.

Hart was mainly being used on special teams if he was being used at all. Hart will likely be signed to the Colts practice squad, if he can clear waivers. Thomas will add depth at defensive end, where the Colts need players to spell Freeney and Mathis.

With Colts starting right end Dwight Freeney still not fully healthy, and Robert Mathis' size limiting his snaps. Robert Mathis and Keyunta Dawson need a break. Brock got most of the Colts fourth quarter snaps last Sunday.

Winston Justice Signs Extension With Eagles

Adam Caplan of Scout.com is reporting via twitter that the Philadelphia Eagles have signed Eagles offensive tackle Winston Justice to a four year contract extension. Justice was set to be a free agent after the season.

Geoff Mosher of Delaware Online is reporting that Justice's extension puts injured right tackle Stacey Andrews future into question. According to Mosher, Justice's deal is worth about $18 million.

Justice has had the best year of his career, after being a disappointment in his first couple of seasons. Justice and starting left tackle Jason Peters have helped stabilize the Eagles offense in 2009.

Bengals Sign Defensive Tackle, Waive Guard

Joe Reedy is reporting via twitter that the Cincinnati Bengals have signed defensive tackle Orien Harris, and waived offensive guard Scott Kooistra. Harris was released last week to make room for Larry Johnson.

Harris was also the player used in the trade that sent Brian Leonard to Cincinnati. Kooistra has played in 84 games with the Bengals, but he has never beem more than just a quality back up. Harris has played in one game with the Bengals in 2009.

According to Reedy, the Bengals also signed cornerback Antonio Smith to their practice squad. Smith has played with the Colts, Lions, and the Chargers.

Falcons Looking To Replace Jason Elam

Last year scouts around the league were not high on the Falcons decision to sign free agent kicker Jason Elam, who they considered "Over The Hill". Elam proved the doubters wrong, at least for the 2008 season.

Elam has only hit 10 of 16 field goals this season, and he has missed four field goals from 30-39 yards out, which is pretty awful. His accuracy ranks 30th best in the NFL, which means 15 out of 16 NFL kickers are more accurate than him.

Brandon Contu, Steven Hauschka, Sam Swant and Shane Andrus all worked out with the Falcons on Tuesday, as Atlanta looked to replace the future Hall-Of-Fame kicker.

Bills Lose Starting Guard For Year, Sign Simmons

The Buffalo Bills have announced on their twitter page that they have placed guard Eric Wood on injured reserve, and signed free agent offensive guard Kendall Simmons. Simmons last played with the New England Patriots.

Simmons only played in one game as a Patriot, while he was a starter at the start of the 2008 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wood has already undergone surgery for his compound leg fracture.

The Bills are also expected to place their other starting guard, Seth McKinney, on injured reserve. And just for good measures!

Browns Release Linebacker Josh Stamer

The Orange and Brown report is reporting that the Cleveland Browns have released linebacker Josh Stamer. Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post is reporting that the Browns also had a tryout with linebacker Rocky Boiman.

The Browns were not able to sign Boiman, because the Pittsburgh Steelers beat them to him. The Browns have not yet signed a player to replace Stamer on the 53-man roster, and it seems to me that the Browns were all ready to sign Boiman, but the Steelers stole him.

Stamer is more know for his special teams abilities than his play at linebacker, where he mainly adds depth. I would expect the Browns would sign a player in the next couple of days.

Jags Cut Ties With Adam Seward

The Jacksonville Jaguars have released linebacker Adam Seward, the team announced today. Seward has played in only three games this season after he signed with the Jaguars just before the start of the 2009 season.

Seward was signed by the Indianapolis Colts during free agency, but he failed to make a bid for their 53-man roster, and was released before the start of the season. Seward provided depth at middle linebacker.

The Jaguars signed linebacker Lamar Myles and defensive end James Wyche to their practice squad, but they still have not added a player to replace Seward on the Jaguars 53-man roster. Either player might be promoted to the active roster.

Steelers Sign Linebacker, Cornerback

The Pittsburgh Steelers have an awful special teams unit. Everyone knows it, and everyone seems to exploit it. Now they are trying to do something about it. The Steelers have signed linebacker Rocky Boiman and cornerback Corey Ivy.

To make room for Boiman and Ivy, the Steelers released cornerback Kewein Ratliff and linebacker Donavan Woods. Ratliff added depth at cornerback and safety, and had a role on special teams.

In addition to those moves, the Steelers signed guard/tackle Jonathan Palmer to their practice squad, and released running back Justin Vincent from their practice squad. Palmer was added due to the Steelers recent injuries at guard.

Dolphins Lose Ferguson, Give Up On Roth

The Miami Dolphins have a much different look on defense now than they did this time last year. The Dolphins have a much different record this time last year as well. Some of their woes can be connected to injuries.

Today the Dolphins announced that they have waived outside linebacker Matt Roth and placed defensive tackle Jason Ferguson on injured reserve. The Dolphins also released Nate Ness, who was signed a couple of days ago.

To replace Ferguson, Roth, and Ness on the 53-man roster, the Dolphins dealt with three players today, but only signed two. The Dolphins signed defensive end Ikaika Alama-Francis and cornerback Evan Oglesby.

Alama-Francis played defensive end with the Lions, but it would not surprise me if he played outside linebacker with the Dolphins. Oglesby is known for his special teams play with the Ravens.

The Ravens looked at signing cornerback Ahmad Carroll, who was released by the Jets after disappointing new coach Rex Ryan. Carroll would add depth at cornerback, where the Dolphins need more playmakers.

Eagles Swap Out Cornerbacks

The Philadelphia Eagles have had quite the new look at cornerback ever since they announced that Ellis Hobbs has been placed on injured reserve. Since then, Dimitri Patterson has become their third cornerback, and depth has been a major concern.

The Eagles announced today that they have waived cornerback Jack Ikegwuonu, and signed conerback Geoffrey Pope of of the Cincinatti Bengals practice squad. To add to the Eagles woes at corner Asante Samuel is now dealing with a stinger, but he should play in week 12.

Right now Asante Samuel and Sheldon Brown are the Eagles starting cornerbacks, while Dimitri Patterson is the Eagles third cornerback. Patterson saw some game action for Samuel, who as I previously mentioned, was dealing with a stinger.

Ramzee Robinson serves as the Eagles dime cornerback. Robinson was signed when the Eagles placed Ellis Hobbs on injured reserve. Which leaves Pope with the fifth cornerback spot, which adds depth and helps on special teams.

Cardinals Leave A "Bird" Behind

The Arizona Cardinals are a select group. Not all birds are welcome.

Well anyways, the Arizona Cardinals announced that they waived tight end Dominique Byrd. Byrd has not seen any game action in 2009, while he has been stuck behind Anthony Becht, Ben Patrick, and Stephen Spach.

To take Byrd's roster spot, the Cardinals signed linebacker Monty Beisel to a one year contract. Beisel has started 113 career games, most of them can playing middle linebacker, but his main value will be on special teams and on depth.

Chargers Sign Tackle Jon Runyan

After a season ending injury to Chargers starting right tackle Jeromey Clary, the San Diego Chargers knew where to look for help on their offensive line woes. The Chargers brought in veteran free agent tackle Jon Runyan in for a visit today, and decided to sign him.

The Chargers signed Runyan to a one year deal and placed normal starter Jeromey Clary on season ending injury reserve. Clary was dealing with an ankle injury. Corey Clark could also start for Clary.

Clark was promoted from the Chargers practice squad five days ago, when San Diego placed outside linebacker Jyles Tucker on injured reserve. Brandyn Dombrowski, who replaced Clary when he got injured also has a voice.

Fanball.com writes that they do not expect Clary to be handed his starting job back in 2010, when he returns. Expect the Chargers to search through free agency and the draft for their future right tackle

Ravens Lose Washington For Season

The Ravens were torched by Peyton Manning on sunday, and beleave it or not, things will be getting worse. The Ravens have announced that they have placed starting cornerback Fabian Washington on injured reserve.

Washington was dealing with a knee injury. Frank Walker will likely replace Washington at cornerback. Walker already got some game time in week ten, when the Ravend decided to bench Washington.

The Ravens signed cornerback Cary Williams to take Washington's spot on the 53-man roster. Williams has been on and off of the Titans active roster and practice squad in 2009. Williams will add depth at corner.

Lardarius Webb and Chris Carr will also see more time at corner in nickel and dime situations. Webb is the Ravens top kick returner, and he has some of the fastest wheels in the NFL. Carr was expectged to be the Ravens top returner, but struggled in his move from Tennessee.

The Ravens also placed fullback Matt Lawrence on injure reserve, and signed free agent fullback Charles Ali. Ali played with the Cleveland Browns in 2008, and will back up Le' Ron McClain in Baltimore.

Eric Wood's Ugly Leg Break

Bills offensive lineman broke his leg. It looks, horrible. Dare to watch:

The Ups And Downs of Eli Manning

Eli Manning looked good yesterday in the 34-31 win over the Atlanta Falcons. He's been looking good for most of the year. He had some bad weeks but let's see if he can keep the positives for the whole rest of the year. Here is a chart of Manning from Week Ten and before, courtesy of Shutdown Corner:

More Wildcat with Vick?

According to Philly.com, the Eagles look to explore more into the Wildcat. They won yesterday and Michael Vick helped out, including a 34-yard-run. With that, Eagles look to do more Wildcat plays for Michael Vick.

Vick hasn't been playing since the 2006 season. Playing like how he is now, he doesn't look that bad.

Charlie Batch Injured For Six Weeks

By Josh Dhani

According to several sources, Charlie Batch is injured for six weeks. Batch played in the overtime game when the Steelers lost to the Chiefs, 27-24 as Ben Roethlisberger went down with the injury.

Speaking of Big Ben, he is expected to be okay and may play next week. With Batch out, Dennis Dixon will be the backup.

Saints Looking To Add Another Veteran Cornerback

A week ago the New Orleans Saints signed former Ravens cornerback Chris McAllister. Now according to Adam Scheftler of ESPN, the Saints are looking to add even more experience in the secondary.

Scheftler is reporting that the Saints are planning to sign, or should I say re-sign, cornerback Mike McKenzie. McKenzie has been recovering from a knee injury that kept him out of the last nine games last season.

The Saints are without their starting cornerbacks Tracy Porter and Jabari Greer, and are also missing Randall Gay and Leigh Torrance. Malcolm Jenkins, Chris McAllister, and Usuma Young are the Saints other options.

Young has been used at free safety in 2009, after playing cornerback in 2008. Greer will play next week, but the status of Tracy Porter is still up in the air. Randall Gay and Malcolm Jenkins will get the most time at cornerback.

(UPDATE) According to Scheftler, the Saints have placed cornerback Leigh Torrance on injured reserve and have now signed McKenzie to their 53-man roster. McKenzie will likely serve as the Saints third, fourth, fifth, or six cornerback, depending on injuries.

Bruce Gradkowski Leads Raiders Over Bengals

Could this really be happening. Before today I posted a post about how nobody would have thought that Bruce Gradkowski would be the Raiders starting quarterback in week 11. Things just got a whole lot crazier my friends.

Gradkowski now had a career make-or-break moment. With about two minutes left, and the Raiders trailing by a touchdown, Oakland was running out of time. Gradkowski tossed a 29 yard pass to rookie Louis Murphy for a touchdown.

After a successful onside kick, strong-legged kicker Sebastian Janikowski kicked a game winning field goal. Gradkowski completed 17 of 34 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns, although he turned the ball over twice.

Favre On Target In Huge Vikings Win

This just in. The Vikings are for real. With the most talented roster in the NFL, Brett Favre organized a Peyton Manning caliber passing camp as the Vikings blew past the Seahawks this afternoon.

Favre, whom Viking fans were begging to hand the ball of on long yardage situations during October, completed 22 of 25 passes and threw for 313 yards and four touchdowns. Favre completed an astounding 88% of his passes, a career high.

Favre did not throw an interception and he kept an 8.5 yard average per pass play. Favre engineered 17 passing first downs and was 8 of 13 on third downs. Favre hit tight end Visanthe Shiance 8 out of ten times.

Sidney Rice was on the receiving end of two of Favre's touchdown passes. Under Favre, Rice has turned into a budding star. Rice caught 6 of 7 passes thrown his way. Percy Harvin caught five of five passes in his direction.

Lions-Browns Put Up Big Numbers In Shootout

If the Browns and the Lions played every week I'm sure they would have a lot more fans. Seriously. Over the last four or five years, Sunday's game was probably the most entertaining either teams fans have ever seen.

With less than two minutes left the Lions were down by five points and they were without timeouts. Rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford was taking the snaps. With eight seconds left in the game, the Lions were on the 31 yard line.

Stafford launched a hail mary into the end zone intended for Calvin Johnson, who was covered by the overly anxious Hank Poteat. Poteat creates a little too much contact and is flagged with a costly pass interference.

Stafford completed 26 of 43 passes for 422 yards. He also tossed five touchdown passes, which tied a team record. The Browns were up by 21 points at the end of the first quarter, and Stafford reacted fast.

Quinn completed 21 of 33 passes and played the best game of his career, which he lost

Seahawks Set Franchise Low Rushing Mark

The Seattle seahawks ran 13 times today and only managed 4 yards in a blowout loss to Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. The vikings averaged 0.3 yards per carry, and only had one rushing first down.

Justin Forsett ran nine times for nine yards and a one yard touchdown run. Matt Hasselback ran two times for four yards. Justin Griffith ran once for no gain. And Seneca Wallace ran once for -9 yards.

The Seattle Seahawks are bad. Real bad. I mean, the Colts run less than 13 times all the time, and they never end up with less than four yards. You pretty much have to try to be awful to do that.

Source: Armanti Edwards Contacted By Jets

Today while I was at church of all places, someone told me that the New York Jets sent a letter to Appalachian State University senior quarterback Armanti Edwards. ProFootballWeekly recently ranked Edwards the fifth best senior quarterback.

Edwards has lead the Mountaineers to two national championship victories, and a win against a highly ranked Michigan team. Edwards did not play yesterday, but last week he completed 21 of 24 passes.

Edwards is the only player in Division I history to run for 4,000 yards and throw for 9,000 yards. Edwards received the Walter Payton award in 2008, which recognizes him as the top player in Division I.

Edwards is small for an NFL quarterback, weighing only 184 pounds, and has already struggled with injuries in his college career. Edwards is also only 6 feet tall. Others project him as 5-11. He has a projected 4.59 40 yard dash.

Armanti has never had a passer rating in his four seasons that was under 140.0. Edwards has also never compiled less than a 60 % completion percentage. Many former NFL personnel, including Ron wolf think that Edwards could be an NFL passer.

Here is my favorite highlight video of Edwards:

The Jets currently have Mark Sanchez as their franchise quarterback, but backup Kellen Clemen's contract will expire after the season. Edwards could take on a Brad Smith type role if the Jets draft him.

Chad Ocho Cinco Condoms!

After all the headlines Chad Ocho Cinco makes, this one just might top them all. Earlier this year, Ocho Cinco joked about creating his own condom line. Well here they are. Ocho Cinco tweeted this week that the product will look like this.

Wether on not Ocho Cinco makes the product, or if he is just joking around, there is no doubt in my mind that Chad is the funniest and most unique athlete in the world, maybe even the history of sports.
On the top of the box, Ocho Cinco conviently place a ruler where you can measure your Dick Butkus. Johnson (ocho Cinco) looks like a stoned Jamacian kin his tan hat. Good work Chad!

Steve Slaton Back As A Starter

The Houston Chronicle is reporting that the Houston Texans have moved running back Steve Slaton back into the starting line up. Slaton replaces Ryan Moats, who stole Slaton's starting job earlier this year.

Slaton will get the bulk of the carries, while Moats will spell Slaton on occasion. Chris Brown will get short yardage and goaline carries as well. After a great rookie season, Slaton has not managed to duplicate his 2008 success.

On 116 carries Slaton has rushed for 359 yards with a 3.1 yard average, and he has compiled three touchdowns. Moats has run 54 times for 220 yards with a 4.1 yard average, and he also has three touchdowns.

Studebaker Will Start, First Time In Career

The Kansas City Star is reporting that Chiefs linebacker Andy Studebaker will make his first career NFL start tomorrow, as the Chiefs take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

I have been following Studebaker ever since before he was drafted, during his senior season at Wheaton College. In several ways I am personally connected to Wheaton college.

First of all my mother attended Wheaton before heading to UNC, where she met my father. I know many current and past students from Wheaton today.

Studebaker will start for Mike Vrabel, who is suffering with a knee injury. Studebaker will likely start a few more weeks this season, with Vrabel likely out an extended period of time.

Studebaker was a sixth round pick in the 2008 NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. Studebaker recorded 17.5 sacks as a senior in college.

Studebaker has recorded only 12 career tackles, but with more playing time he will see more tackles come his way.

CBS Correspondant Heading To Cleveland?

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Cleveland Browns and CBS correspondent Charley Casserly have a mutual interest in each other. (Note: No homo). Casserly last worked as the GM of the Huston Texans.

Florio admits that the Browns might still be focusing on hiring former Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Holmgren. The Cleveland Plain Dealer wrote yesterday that Casserly was the hot rumor in Cleveland.

Sports Talk Cleveland is now reporting that Casserly could be hired by the Browns in the next 72 hours. According to Sports Talk Cleveland he will be hired as the Browns president and GM.

Brian Brohm Lands In Buffalo

The Buffalo Bills have announced that they have released quarterback Gibran Hamdan, and signed quarterback Brian Brohm. Brohm was on the Green Bay Packers practice squad.

According to jsonline the Green Bay Packers planed on signing Brohm to their active roster after they waived wide receiver Jake Allen, Brohm decided to pack his bags and fly to Buffalo.

Brohm was the Packers second round pick in 2008, but he was beat out by late round pick Matt Flynn in in 2008 and 2009.

Shaun Smith Joins The Locos

The Las Vegas Locomotives have announced that they have signed defensive tackle Shaun Smith. Smith last played with the Detroit Lions, but he was released before the start of the 2009 season.

To make room for Smith, the Locos placed former Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Wendell Bryant on injured reserve. Smith was the most talented free agent on the market, but he has some serious issues to deal with.

Smith was involved in a fight with Browns quarterback Brady Quinn, ultimately leading to his release. Many around the league would not touch Smith, even with his immense talent, because of the damage he could do to their locker room.

Vikings Extend Brad Childress

John Clayton of ESPN.com is reporting that the Minnesota Vikings have extended head coach Brad Childress. According to Clayton, the deal will extend Childress' contract throughout the 2013 season.

Clayton also mentioned that the deal will be worth between 4 and 5 million dollars each year. Childress was under a contract that earned him about two million dollars a year. Childress only had a year left on his contract.

The Vikings, 8-1, are having one of their best seasons in a long time, and I am willing to say that the Vikings have the best roster in the entire NFL. Brett Favre and Adrian Peterson are just two of the packers stacked offense.

7 Pictures That Sum Up The Patriots

Dolphins Place Ronnie Brown On IR

Adam Scheftler of ESPN.com is reporting via twitter that the Miami Dolphins have placed running back Ronnie Brown on injured reserve. Earlier today Pro Football Talk was reporting that Brown was out for the season.

Brown injured his foot last week while the Dolphins were taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brown will be replaced in the starting lineup by ageing veteran Ricky Williams. Williams will likely replace Brown in the wildcat.

Lex Hilliard should also see some carries. Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said that the Dolphins might not even use the Wildcat if Brown is not in, but I expect to see some packages designed for Pat White.

Chargers Place Jyles Tucker On IR

Adam Scheftler of ESPN.com is reporting via twitter that the San Diego Chargers have placed linebacker Jyles Tucker on injure reserve. Tucker was adding depth at outside linebacker behind Shawne Merriman and Shaun Phillips.

Tucker was dealing with an ankle injury. Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune is reporting that the Chargers have signed offensive tackle Corey Clark from their practice squad to replace Tucker on the 53-man roster.

Tucker only recorded four tackles this season after he started 12 games in 2008. Tucker also recorded 5.5 sacks in 2008, when he replaced the injured Shawne Merriman. Larry English will now see more snaps.

June: I Should Be Cleared Soon

Cato June told me on his twitter page that he "should be getting cleared to play real soon". June was released by the Texans before the start of the 2009 season after he was placed on injured reserve.

June has still not signed with a team, and he was getting trashed on twitter by some NFL fans for being a free agent. June played with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2007 and 2008, but he was released after the 2008 season.

June made his career with his great play from 2003 to 2006 with the Indianapolis Colts, where he won a super bowl with the team. June, a converted college safety, has great coverage skills.

Bengals Sign Larry Johnson

The Associated Press is reporting that the Cincinnati Bengals have signed free agent running back Larry Johnson. Johnson will serve as Cedric Benson's primary backup, but for now, he will be the Bengals fourth running back.

Johnson signed a one year $255,290, veteran minimum contract that will run out after the season. Johnson will also earn $4,000,000 that is guaranteed from Kansas City. To make room for Johnson, the Bengals waived defensive tackle Orien Harris.

The Bengals are no noobs when it comes to taking chances on risky players. Some of them reap rewards. Chris Henry, Cedric Benson, and Tank Johnson have all been able to resurrect their NFL careers.

Dwayne Bowe Suspended Four Games

The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that starting wide receiver Dwayne Bowe has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. Bowe will likely be replaced by Bobby Wade.

According to ESPN.com, Bowe was using a diuretic while he was trying to lose weight during training camp. According to ESPN, Bowe will not appeal the suspension. The suspension will be in effect immediately.

The Chiefs are lucky that they signed wide receiver Chris Chambers a couple of weeks ago, or they could have been in even more trouble. Lance Long and Mark Bradley are the Chiefs other options at wideout.

Bills Fire Jauron, Promote Perry Fewell

Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson announced that he has fired Bills head coach Dick Jauron. Jauron finished his tenure in Buffalo with a 24-33 record. Jauron had two years left on his contract.

The Bills named defensive coordinator Perry Fewell their interim head coach. Fewell was the Bills defensive coordinator. It is unknown as to who will be the Bills defensive coordinator if Fewell gives up his duties.

"I have tremendous respect for Dick and thank him for all of his efforts during these past four years." Wilson Said. "While this was a very difficult decision, I felt that it is one that needed to be made at this time for the best interest of our team. We will now focus on moving forward and preparing for our game this week in Jacksonville."

Buccaneers Activate Aaron Sears

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced that they have activated Aaron Sears from the reserve/did not report list. Sears, who has not been with the Buccaneers since March, has been dealing with personal issues.

The Buccaneers will get a two week roster exemption with Sears, in which he will not count against their 53-man roster. According to Fanball.com, Sears has been dealing with depression and concussions.

Teammates of Sears started noticing that Sears was not talking much, to the point he barely talked at all. Sears was replaced at left guard by second year pro Jeremy Zuttah, who has played well in Sears' absence.

Source: All UFL Contracts Are One Year Long

Well this is the last UFL related info I can dish out tonight. This peice, in my opinion, is the most interesting.

The source explains to me about the UFL contracts, that are very similar from player to player, unlike in the NFL.

"For the UFL’s “Premiere” season, each player was signed to a one-year contract. Upon completion of our season on November 27th, they are allowed to sign with the NFL, if desired."

So EVERY single UFL player will sign a new contract at the end of the season. That seems like a ton of work.

Wright: I Ran A 4.09 40, Fastest Player In NFL History

Today I received an e-mail from former NFL wide receiver Alexander Wright regarding his 40 times. Some websites had rumors of him running a 4.09 40 yard dash and a 4.15 40 yard dash.

I sent this email to his website on Sunday

"Is it true that Alexander Wright ran a 4.09 40 yard dash, or is it true he
ran a 4.14, or are both of them rumors?"

The response came today.

"It is true. I ran both times!"

If this is true, and Wright is not lying, which I can't see why he would (He seems like a pretty decent guy), then it would make him the fastest player in NFL history.

Source: UFL To Announce New Owners and Executives

Even more breaking UFL news came out of my source today.

"The UFL is exploring all potential expansion cities, including Hartford. We hope to make an announcement in the near future regarding the UFL’s future plans including new owners and executives."

So the UFL will make some announcement in the near future of owners and executives.

One question that I asked, but they did not awnser was about Rick Mueller. Mueller, the UFL's only GM, could be in charge of all six UFL franchises in 2010.

Source: UFL Will NOT Build or Buy a New Stadium

Like I said in my previous article, I contacted a high ranking UFL employee this weekend and asked a few questions that I felt the UFL needed to answer.

I asked:

"During the 2009 season, the four UFL teams used previously constructed stadiums. Will the UFL purchase or build a permanent stadium for the 2010 season? If so, can you give me any idea on where the location of the stadium(s) would be?"

And the awnser

"The UFL will not be purchasing or building its own stadiums for the 2010 seasons."

The UFL is in a tough market, and it could be a smart descision to shy away from spending more money.

More UFL Stories to come

Source: UFL To Hold Tryouts In Early 2010

Last weekend I emailed a high ranking UFL employee about several headlines and some of my questions about the UFL. One of the questions I posed is about the possibility of future tryouts, and workouts for players.

"When and where will player tryouts be held next, or are tryouts being held privatley, like in the NFL?"

Their response

"The UFL does plan to hold some workouts and/or tryouts and they will be announced in early 2010"

Each tryout that the UFL hosted in 2009 averaged about 1,000 players, which is a very big size for an upstart league.

Information for agents and players regarding tryouts were previously avalible on the UFL's website.

Las Vegas Locos and Florida Tuskers To Battle In Championship

The Las Vegas Locomotives and the Florida Tuskers will battle it out in the UFL's championship, with a Locos victory over the California Redwoods.

Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk is reporting that the game will be played in Sam Boyd Stadium, which is the Loco's home field. The Championship game will be played on November 27th, and will probably be televised on Versus.

The Locos are lead by running back DeDe Dorsey, who averages almost nine yards per carry. The Tuskers are lead by Brooks Bollinger, who has proved to be the top quarterback in the league.

Joey Porter To Sit Out Game Against Buccaneers

By Josh Dhani

Looks like Joey Porter won't be making tackles and sacks on Sunday.
Coach Tony Sparano says he is going to sit linebacker Porter for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.

Porter didn't record anything last week against the Patriots.
During an interview on NFL Network, he called them cheaters and he absolutely hated them. Tom Brady was inspired by the comments and led the Pats to a 27-17 win.

Porter didn't do much this week, and also this year.

After last year's amazing performance with 17.5 sacks, he currently has 2.5 for right now.

"I see no frustration," Sparano said. "What I do see is a guy that's played in enough football games to know, 'There are some things I need to do better out there.' There are a lot of things that people say about Joey that are not always favorable, but one of the good things about Joey is the guy's a pretty good pro. He takes it personally. The guy cares."

Porter hopes to get back in shape and help the Dolphins out on defense.

Titans Sign Receiver, Release Lineman

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean is reporting that the Tennessee Titans have signed wide receiver Dominique Edison and released center Fernardo Velasco. Edison was on the Titans practice squad.

The Titans needed depth at wide receiver after starting wide receiver Justin Gage suffered a back injury in week nine.Velasco was promoted from the Titans practice squad to their 53-man roster last year.

Edison has played in two games this season with the Titans, but he has not recorded a reception. With right tackle David Stewart back in practice, Velasco was a luxury. Velasco can play all five spots on the line.

Former NFL Player Stabbed

The National Post is reporting that former NFL tight end Teyo Johnson was stabbed at a concert. Johnson, who now plays for the CFL's Calgary Stampeders, was at a DJ Tiesto concert Friday morning.

Apparently, Johnson got in a fight, and when the concert ended, Johnson was lying on the ground in a bloody mess. The police were called at 1:30 AM to break up the fight. At that point, the police realized that Johnson had been stabbed.

Johnson did not realized he had been stabbed. Johnson spent last night in the hospital, where he was recovering from his injuries. Johnson is listed on the injury report as "very doubtful". An arrest has not yet been made.

Dolphins Sign Tight end

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post is reporting that the Miami Dolphins have signed tight end Kory Sperry. Sperry was on the Dolphins practice squad. Sperry has not recorded any NFL stats.

Sperry replaces linebacker J.D. Foslum on the 53-man roster. Sperry will add depth at tight end, where the Dolphins are dealing with Anthony Fasano's hip injury. Besides Fasano, the Dolphins also have Joey Haynos.

Sperry can also help out on special teams, which seems to be the reason he was promoted from the practice squad instead of rookie John Nalbone. Sperry will see even more time on special teams with linebacker Erik Walden out.

Redskins Sign Safety, Release Punter

ESPN's Adam Scheftler is reporting via twitter that the Washington Redskins have signed safety Lendy Holmes off of their practice squad, and released punter Sam Paulescu. Paulescu signed with Washington on November 6th.

The releasing of Paulescu signals that the Redskins normal punter Hunter Smith is ready to hit the field again. Smith has been bothered by a groin injury that has kept him out most of the 2009 season.

Holmes adds depth at safety where the Redskins lost Chris Horton for the rest of the season. Horton was dealing with a toe injury, and after surgery, he was placed on injured reserve. Holmes attended Oklahoma.

Browns work out Two Punters

Jeff Schudel of The News-Herald is reporting that the Cleveland Browns have worked out free agent punters Kyle Larson and Ryan Plackemeier. Browns punter Dave Zustudil was limited in practice on Friday.

Zustudil is suffering from a right knee injury that has bugged him all season long. Schudel suggests that the injury could be due to the intensity of new head coach Eric Mangini's workout. Last week Jamal Lewis criticized the intensity of the Brown's practices.

Larson played with the Bengals from 2004 to 2008, but he was beat out in training camp this season. Larson set several punting records at Nebraska, and he was a semifinalist in the Ray Guy award.

Javon Walker wants out of Oakland

Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times is reporting that Oakland Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker has asked to be released by the team. Walker is unhappy being buried at the bottom of the depth chart.

According to Corkran, Walker has not ruled out a return to the Raiders in 2010, but the question will likely be, will the Raiders want Walker in 2010. Walker claims that "He still has it going on" in practice.

Walker has not caught a pass yet in the 2009 season, and he only caught 15 passes in 2008. Walker played in eight games in 2008, and he has now only played in three games in 2009. Walker seems bound for free agency.

Chad Ocho Cinco Fined For "Bribing" Ref

Chris Mortenson of ESPN.com is reporting that the NFL has fined Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ocho Cinco $20,000 for bribing an official with a $1 bill. Ocho Cinco waved the bill at a ref as a play was being challenged.

Here is the video

According to ESPN, league spokesman Ray Anderson told Ocho Cinco in a letter, that his actions were unprofessional and unbecoming of an NFL player.

Ocho Cinco responded to the fine via twitter, joking that, "He can't go to McDonalds for two more weeks."

James Hardy Gets A New Chance To Prove Himself

The Buffalo Bills have announced that they have activated wide receiver James Hardy from the physically unable to preform list. Hardy, a second round pick in 2008, has only caught nine passes in his short NFL tenure.

To make room for Hardy on the 53-man roster, the Bills waived running back Xavier Oman, who has been serving as the Bills third running back. Hardy has not played football in nine months.

Hardy will compete for snaps with Roscoe Parrish and Steve Johnson, especially with Johnson. Hardy has the same build as Terrell Owens, and the Bills are trying to groom him to replace Owens.

Chad Ocho Cinco Not Allowed To Send Any More Gifts

The Associated Press is reporting that Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis will not allow Bengals star wide receiver, Chad Ocho Cinco to send gifts to some Steelers defenders. Last week Ocho Cinco sent deodorant to some Raven defenders.

Ocho Cinco tweeted that he was going to send some Mustard to some Steeler's defenders, but when coach Marvin Lewis heard of his plot, he quickly put an end to it. Ocho Cinco's goofs worked in week nine, as the Bengals defeated the Ravens.

Adam Scheftler of ESPN.com is reporting that the NFL has suspended Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Joselio Hanson four games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. Hanson took a diuretic pill last January.

Hanson is the second cornerback that the Iggles lost today, earlier in the day cornerback Ellis Hobbs was placed on injured reserve. With the losses of Hobbs and Hanson the Eagles added two corners, Ramzee Robinson and Jack Ikegwuonu.

Hanson hired attorney David Cornwell to appeal his case. Ikegwuonu was signed off of the Eagles practice squad, and a player will need to be added to replace him. Hanson did not show up to practice today

Browns Sign Free Agent Linebacker

The Associated Press is reporting that the Cleveland Browns have signed veteran free agent linebacker Josh Stamer. Stamer will replace Eric Barton's spot on the 53-man roster. Barton was placed on IR earlier this week.

Stamer last played with the Tennessee Titans, but he was released just before the start of the 2009 season. Stamer will provide depth at inside linebacker, where the Browns have lost both starters.

David Bowens will start inside for Eric Barton. Bowens was being used as the Browns starting left outside linebacker. Kaluka Maiava is the other starter inside, and Kamerion wimbley is the Browns star outside linebacker. Alex Hall will likely fill in for Bowens.

Chiefs Lose Starting Right Guard For Season

Kent Babb of the Kansas City Star is reporting that the Kansas City Chiefs have placed guard Mike Goff on injured reserve. Goff was suffering from a shoulder injury. Andy Alleman will likely start at right guard.

Goff broke his streak of 113 consecutive starts last week, which stretched from his days in San Diego. The Chiefs signed linebacker Justin Rodgers to replace Goff on the 53-man roster. Rodgers has spent time with the Patriots and the Cowboys.

Rodgers recorded 16 tackles in 2008, and 18 tackles in 2007, both times with the Dallas Cowboys on special teams. Rodgers was signed six days ago, then waived, and now signed again.

Giants Lose Wilkerson For Rest Of Season

The New York Giants have announced that they have placed linebacker Gerris Wilkerson on injured reserve. Wilkerson was dealing with a wrist injury that had him on the sidelines. Wilkerson was injured in Sunday's loss.

Wilkerson was vital to the Giants special teams, and he had already recorded 12 special teams tackles in 2009. To fill Wilkerson's roster spot, the Giants signed cornerback D.J. Williams off of the Bronco's practice squad.

Wilkerson was drafted in the third round of the 2006 NFL draft. Wilkerson has recorded 51 tackles in his NFL career, and all of them have been with the New York Giants. That might not be the case next season, when Wilkerson's contract runs out.

Buccaneers Lose Allen For Year

Jim Flynn of the Pewter Report is reporting that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have placed safety Will Allen on injured reserve. The Buccaneers also placed their backup middle linebacker Rod Wilson on injured reserve.

The Buccaneers signed cornerback Derrick Roberson off of their practice squad. Tampa Bay also signed safety Emanuel Cook to their practice squad. Allen is the Buccaneers special teams captain.

With Allen out for the season, expect to see more snaps for Corey Lynch, and with Wilson out expect more of Niko Koutovides. Cook had some experience with the New York Jets in 2008.

Redskins Lose Horton For Season

The Washington Redskins have announced that they have placed saftey Chris Horton on injured reserve. Horton broke his left toe in week ten, and will miss the remainder of the 2009 season. Horton lost his starting job to Reed Doughty.

Ellis Hobbs To Miss Rest Of The Season

The Philadelphia Eagles have announced that they have placed cornerback Ellis Hobbs on injured reserve. Jeremy Maclin will replace Hobbs on kick returns, and Joselio Hanson will replace Hobbs on defense.

Hobbs is in his first season as a Philadelphia Eagle, after a couple seasons as a New England Patriots. Hobbs will either be a restricted free agent or an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

I would not be surprised if he signed elsewhere. Hobbs has already started 47 games in his young career, and he could be a hot commodity spring of 2010. Hobbs also has an NFL record in his bags.

Bills Could Sign Vick In 2010

According to NBC's Tony Dungy, the Buffalo Bills could be Philadelphia Eagles Michael Vick's landing spot in 2010. According to Dungy, who is Vick's mentor, the Bills were interested in signing Vick before he signed with the Eagles.

Dungy also mentioned Cleveland, Washington, and St. Louis as potential landing spots for Vick. Trent Edwards is currently the Bills starting quarterback, but if coaching changes are made in Buffalo, I could see Vick in New York.

Vick will still have one year left on his contract after the 2009 season is over, and the Eagles will look to rid themselves of Vick before his contract expires. Vick's salary cap figure for 2010 on $5.5 million.

Bengals Lose Receiver For Season

The Cincinnati Bengals have announced that they have placed wide receiver Chris Henry on injured reserve. Henry was serving as the Bengals slot receiver, and he should be replaced by Andre Caldwell.

Henry broke his forearm in Sunday's game, and was taken out of the game and sent to the locker room. Henry will be a free agent at the end of the season, and ProFootballTalk.com suggests that he will be re-signed.

Henry had surgery on his broken arm on Monday. Henry has caught 12 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns this season. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis hinted that the Bengals would promote Maurice Purify from the practice squad.

Browns Looking At Mike Holmgren

Adam Scheftler of ESPN is reporting that the Cleveland Browns are interested in hiring Mike Holmgren after the season. According to Scheftler, Holmgren would have a role similar to Bill Parcells in Miami.

This could signal the end of Eric Mangini's tenure as the head coach in Cleveland. Scheftler is also reporting that Browns owner Randy Lerner will also look at Ernie Accorsi, Rick McKay, and Ron Wolf.

The Browns could need much work in the offseason. Running back Jamal Lewis is expected to retire after the season, and work will also be needed at wide receiver, tight end, quarterback, and a new contract for Josh Cribbs.

Dolphins Cut Linebacker, Then Sign One

The Miami Dolphins have announced that they have released linebacker William Kershaw and signed linebacker J.D. Foslum from their practice squad. Foslum has spent all of the 2009 season on the Dolphins practice squad.

Foslum was selected in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL draft out of Weber State. Foslum will add depth at inside linebacker, and will add a boost on special teams. The Dolphins need depth inside after an injury to Channing Crowder.

Foslum will likely be the Dolphins number three inside linebacker behind Reggie Torbor and Akin Ayodele until Crowder returns.

Lions Release Receiver, Add Tackle

John Niyo is reporting via twitter that the Detroit Lions have released wide receiver John Standeford and signed defensive tackle Landon Cohen off of their practice squad. Standeford was the Lions fourth receiver with Calvin Johnson injured.

Now that Johnson is healthy, the Lions had no need to carry Standeford on their roster. Cohen will add depth at defensive tackle. Standeford started four games with the Lions in 2008, and played in nine games.

Cohen started some in 2008, but that team managed to lose every game they played. Cohen spent time with the Lions and the Oakland Raiders this offseason. Landon also goes by "Joe".

Packers Lose Spitz For Season

Tom Silverstein of the Journal Sentinel is reporting that the Green Bay Packers have placed their starting center, Jason Spitz on injured reserve. The team promoted receiver Biren Ealy from their practice squad to fill his spot.

According to the Journal sentinel, Spitz was suffering from back spasms. Ealy was signed to the Packers practice squad last week after Jake Allen was signed to the active roster. Donald Driver, Jordy Nelson, and Brett Swain are all dinged up.

Scott Wells will likely replace Spitz at center. Spitz's contract expires at the end of the season, and this injury could hurt his position for getting a new deal signed. Ealy will likely be the Packers fourth or fifth receiver this week.

Broncos Sign Ty Law

The Denver Broncos have announced that they have signed veteran free agent cornerback Ty Law to their roster. Law play sparringly in 2008 with the New York Jets, after stints in Kansas City and New York.

Law is known most for his amazing play in the early 2000's with the New England Patriots. Law, a future Hall-Of-Famer, will provide veteran leadership, and some depth behind Andre Goodman and Chaimp Bailey.

To make room for Law, the Broncos released cornerback Jack williams, who was leftover from the Mike Shanahan era. Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels coach Law when he was in New England.
