The San Francisco 49ers have announced that they have hired Kurt Schottenheimer as their special teams coordinator. Schottenheimer is the uncle of Brian Schottenheimer, and the brother of Marty Schottenheimer.
Schottenheimer, last coached the Packers secondary in 2008. Schottenheimer replaces Al Everest, who was fired after two seasons in San Francisco. Schottenheimer coached as a defensive coordinator in Detroit, Kansas City, and Washington.
