Brian Cushing Named Defensive Rookie Of The Year


The Associated Press has named Brian Cushing the defensive rookie of the year. In the last four years, the defensive rookie of year played with the Texans twice (Cushing and DeMeco Ryans). Cushing was selected to this years Pro Bowl as well.


Cushing received 39 votes for defensive rookie of the year, which was a huge lead over second place Jarius Byrd with 6. Texans head coach Gary Kubiak told the press that "Cushing plays like a 10-year veteran".


Cushing lead the AFC in tackles a lead all linebackers in interceptions. In addition to his pass coverage and run stopping ability, Cushing has also recorded 5 sacks. Cushing appears to have a very bright future.
