LaDainian Tomlinson To Be Traded After The Season?

The San Diego Union Tribune is reporting that the San Diego chargers could get rid of starting running back LaDainian Tomlinson after the season. Tomlinson is the NFL's 29th leading rusher. LT is having the worst season of his career.

This year Tomlinson has only had three runs of 20 yards or longer.Tomlinson is scheduled to make $3 million next year, but he has $1 million in guaranteed money. The Union Tribune is reporting the Chargers could redo Tomlinson's deal once again, but that seems doubtful.

Darren Sproles is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the season if the NFL can reach a new CBA. If not, Sproles will be a RFA again. I think it would be in the chargers best interest to get rid of LT, but there may not be better options out there.

What do you think will happen to LT next year? Will the Saints trade him? Release him? Keep him? Add a running back in the draft? Or in free agency?

  1. I'm inclined to think both sides will come to terms and LT will retire a Charger.

I don't know how much he wants or what their cap figure looks like... not that that will matter next year.

But he's not going to be a number one option anywhere so why not just stay by the Zoo and finish out.

Unless he wants a legit shot at Emmitt's record.

  2. I would tend to agree with you, unless the Chargers are able to land a big time running back, LT is staying in San Diego

  3. Heck I wanted him to go in the game and score the winning touchdown. LT is awesome and hopefully they can all come to an agreement and let him retire as a Charger. Come on LT ask Tony Gwynn what took year after year to stay a Padre, and he will forever be Mr. Padre. LT is by far the best back the Chargers have had in their 50 year history, and I've been a fan of every single game (Balboa Stadium). Please give us one more year and maybe he can retire with 2 rings.

  4. LT is thew best RB of the deecade and it would just be wrong to see him outside a chargers uni.
