The Cleveland Browns have announced that they have released running back Jamal Lewis. Lewis is now expected to retire. Lewis ran 143 times in 2009 for 500 yards and zero touchdowns.
“We want to thank him for his contributions to the Cleveland Browns and wish him nothing but the best moving forward. I’m sure he will be successful in whatever he decides to pursue,” Browns head coach Eric Mangini said in a statement.

Lewis' carries, yards, touchdowns, yards-per-carry, receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns have all gone down since 2007. Lewis has started every single game he has played in except for his rookie season, and what looks like his last season.
