Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union Tribune is reporting that the San Diego Chargers may release nose tackle Jamal Williams. Williams is scheduled to make $6 million in 2010, and the Chargers may not want to pay him that.
According to Acee, the Chargers have been looking to add a nose tackle in the draft for the past couple of years, and may bite on Terrance Cody or Cam Thomas if they are up in the first and second round.
Right now Ogemdi Nwagbuo would slip into the starting lineup were the Chargers to release Williams. Nwagbuo recorded 19 tackles and a sack in five starts in 2009, not too bad for a 3-4 nose tackle.
