Reggie Williams return to football did not last long.
Danny O'Neil announced on his twitter page that Williams had been released.
Williams signed with the Seahawks after a three day tryout in April, but he was lost in a numbers game, with over six players receiving snaps ahead of him.
The Seahawks also released WR Victor James.
With Williams and James off the roster, four receivers roster spots are safe, while nine others will compete for two or three spots.
Safe: T.J. Houshmanzadeh, Deion Branch, Golden Tate, Deon Butler
Bubble: Ben Obomanu, Mike Hass, Patrick Carter, Ruvell Martin, Sean Morey, Mike Williams, Kole Heckendorf, Marcus Maxwell, Isaiah Stanback
The Bubble Players
Obomanu: Obomanu could be the best receiver out of the group. His name is one to watch out for.
Hass: Local product saw some action last season.
Carter: Has some size, but like Hass, is nothing special.
Martin: Martin is a tall, possession receiver, who will compete with Williams for that role.
Morey: Morey is probably the most likely to win a roster spot, because of his excellent special teams play.
Williams: Williams' USC connections certainly don't hurt, but Pete Carroll has not shied away from picking others before USC alum.
Heckendorf: Has some ability, interesting to see how he works out.
Maxwell: Is well traveled.
Stanback: Stanback could serve as an emergency quarterback, which helps his case. He can also be used in trick packages and on special teams.
